The development of language technology is crucial for the sustainability of linguistic diversity. In Norway, where Polytext is at home, linguistic diversity has always been an agenda.
Norwegian consists of several dialects and of two official written languages: Bokmål and Nynorsk. Norway is also the home of the indigenous Sami people, and two national minority groups, the Kvens and the Roma people. Between the world's languages, the languages of Norway are small.
But regardless of which language you speak, how big, or how small it is, or how many resources it has; speakers should be able to learn in their language, use it to set public agendas, and be encouraged to develop its linguistic potential.
