Hello,

My name is Medadi E. Ssentanda. I hold a PhD in General Linguistics (Stellenbosch University) in the area of language education. I have an M.A. (Linguistics) and B. A (Education) from Makerere University. I am a Lecturer in the Department of African Languages, Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda. My mother tongue is Luganda (also known as Ganda).

At the University, I teach: Luganda morphology, Luganda Orthography, Luganda for Scholarly Communication, Language policy and managemet and Introduction to Translation. I a reader in multilingual education, language policy in a school context and early reading literacy development.

I also have interest in the area of Language Description and Documentation. In addition I love Computer work, research, translation, teaching and learning new things.

-Starting January 2012, I am undertaking my PhD study at [http://www.sun.ac.za Stellenbosch Uiniversity], South Africa in the field General Linguistics (Language Education). I am sponsored by Stellenbosch University through the PANGeA arrangement(Plan for Africa's Next Generation of Academics) in the Department of General Linguistics. I am working on Mother tongue education in Uganda focusing on how teachers understand and manage the process of transitioning from mother tongue to English in Uganda.

-I have developed great interest in the area of Language Description and Documentation. In addition I am very interested in Computer work, research, translation, teaching and learning new things.
